Lyrebird is a public sound installation running in the entrance of
Perth Concert Hall. Nick collaborated with sound artists and designers Eleftheria Mylona, Rebecca Prentice and Sean Williams to design new sound environments for this installation.
As visitors to the concert hall walk through the entranceway, their movements are picked up by infrared movement sensors linked to an out-of-sight computer. The sensor data is used to trigger sounds, using programs written in
MaxMSP.
The original installation and master software architecture were built by Richard Brown and Marc Langsman.
