Solarference (pronounced as in solar-powered interference!) is Nick Janaway and Sarah Owen. We make sound-centred art from a number of perspectives, often combining electronic music with the human voice.

Sarah is a composer, sound artist, vocalist and workshop leader. She composes sounds for concerts, galleries, performances and out-doors events. She works alongside dancers, visual artists, storytellers, children and other people she meets. She draws from oral traditions, collaborations, conversations, environmental sounds, domestic sounds, accidental sounds, and sounds she can barely hear.

Nick is a sound designer, musician, singer and electronic producer. He makes sounds for theatre pieces, short films, installations, and has recently started writing interactive sound software. He also writes and performs songs with electronic textures and beats. All of the strands of Nick's work have interweaved in the ongoing Voice Control project (see projects pages). His favourite sound is a very high aeroplane on a not-too-windy day.
