Headroom is supported and funded by UnLtd, a charity that supports social entrepeneurs.
The pods will be therapeutic, allowing a person time alone in a secure space that, at that moment, is just for them. They are a response to a culture where stress, anxiety and depression affect more and more people.
Inside, the pods will be comfortable and tactile. Multi-speaker sound installations will provide a surround-sound experience. Responding to the person inside, sound will be linked to pulse rate and breath flow.
As much as possible, we are going to use recycled materials to create the pods. We will use bicycle generators to provide power for the sound systems, which members of the public will also be welcome to use.
