Solarference often collaborate as part of First Person Theatre, with Alexandra Baybutt and Joe Wild. First Person Theatre makes pieces for anyone to perform - each participant has a portable audio player and hears instructions through headphones. As they follow instructions, their actions create a performance and their experiences are accompanied by an immersive headphone soundtrack.

Encrypt is a two-person headphone piece made especially for the Bargate Monument Gallery, Southampton, making it a truly unique experience. Encrypt ran from 18th March to 27th April, 2008.

Two people are guided by headphone instructions on two intertwining journeys around the building and its surroundings, and each journey has its own stories and sound worlds.
